Never thought a project could make me as hungry as much as redesigning the web and mobile spaces for Foodie Fanatic ever did. To sum up the client in a sentence – they were like William Sonoma but with a large heart. Trying to cater to an audience that consisted of Masterchefs and community chefs alike, the existing website of the client was a total mess. A challenge lay ahead for my team – Book & Shovel.

Let’s take a look at the major challenges we found with Foodie Fanatic existing state of affairs:

Here’s where we come in
Our understanding of the client’s users’ problems and our expertise in the area of information architecture promised an effective solution to address these problems.
Based on user research and client requirements, we came up with a new Vision and Mission statement for Foodie Fanatic to start over.
Foodie Fanatic Vision
To be an agora for foodies: a place for people who love fine foods to congregate, share ideas, and acquire the inspiration and supplies to build their community around fabulous cuisine for all tastes.
Foodie Fanatic Mission
We believe that the meals that bring people together should be the finest meals. We make food about community.
Our excellent culinary ideas, quality ingredients, and tools will ensure that you and your loved ones have the best food, always.

Our Strategy

Project Timeline
Our project spans 21 weeks from planning to the final delivery and presentation.

Information Personas
We came up with 5 Information Personas based on the client’s existing customer base.

Wireframes
The project demanded some low-fi wire framing and we designed the information spaces for every damn concept we had in mind.

We also designed the sitemap for the new Foodie Fanatic website and it looked something like this:

With a sound design plan in place, the Foodie Fanatic developers had a feast with our design work and enabled Foodie Fanatic to provide their customers a cohesive, and amazing experience.
